Ornament

I adorned myself with the lush green bushes, herbs and trees and azure deep oceans with pretty coral reefs;

A colorful array of flowers and fruits rested peacefully to break the monotone of green and blue,

I surrounded myself with fluffy cirrus clouds as the gentle breeze swiftly ran around.

Someone had to look after my dearest ornaments so I gave birth to four elements;

Birds for the vast blue sky, fishes for the gaping sea, animals for the dense forests and humans to look after me.

He fought rains, snow, thunderstorms, deserts, dived into my trenches, flew high in sky and conquered peaks; my creation impressed me!

Birds to jets, fishes to submarines, animals to cars and trees to buildings; little by little humans took over everything.

Sand in the hourglass slipped and survival of the fittest prevailed, eventually, a strange form of humanity unveiled.

I was fooled and exploited in unimaginable ways making me rethink the decision I made.

Plastic waste and sewage sludge embedded in my tender crust, the oil spilled littered waters made my beauty rust,

The lovely flora and fauna began to perish as they abused them to satisfy their petty fetish;

Clouds were robbed of their charm and dark smoke took over like a storm.

I am ugly, angry and yearning for humanity to open its eyes and shed concern for the dark skies.

Humans have grown to be thieves for they have stolen the ornaments of nature from me.
